A Theology of Worship

The Theology of Worship Class will tackle questions such as: What is worship? Why do we do it?  How do we know when we’re doing the right thing?  Can worship ever be in vain?  The group will examine Biblical and theological foundations of worship, moving beyond the debates over contemporary vs. traditional worship styles through a deeper engagement with God’s word, our world, and our tradition.  This group meets in Classroom #1 downstairs. 

 

Discussion Group on the book “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn

The Heaven Discussion Groups are all reading and discussing the book Heaven by Randy Alcorn and the Bible to investigate what heaven and life there may be like and how that should affect our lives here on earth.  This group meets in Classroom #5 downstairs.

The Present Word Series

The Present Word is a quarterly Bible study series published by the Presbyterian Church (USA).  The fall series is titled Covenant Communities.  In this class Old and New Testament texts will be used to discover how God calls each of us to live and lead in Covenant Communities.  Study books are provided at no cost.  This group meets in Classroom #5 downstairs.

Adult Bible Study – Book of James

This group will meet for 6 weeks in the fall to study and discuss the book of James using the Bible and a study guide.  Join us for fellowship and discussion as we look at the book of James and how it relates to our lives today.  New members welcome.


Women’s Bible Study – “Facing Your Giants”

This group will be reading and discussing the book “Facing Your Giants” by Max Lucado.  Each of us has giants in our lives (bills to pay, people to please, failures to forget).  Join us as we look at how when we focus on God, our giants stumble.  New members welcome.

Women’s Bible Study – Book of Luke

Wednesday Mornings, 10am in Classroom #5 Downstairs at CPC

This group meets weekly for study and fellowship.  This fall the group will be studying and discussing the book of Luke using a Bible Study guide.


Adult Bible Study

Wednesday Evenings, Time TBD in the CPC Fellowship Hall

This group will be studying God’s Word starting in the beginning with Genesis.  Only materials needed are your Bible and the accompaniment of the Holy Spirit.  Join us as the Spirit guides us through the Scriptures!


Prayer Group

Thursday Mornings, 8:30am in the CPC Conference Room

The prayer group meets weekly in the Sanctuary to pray for church members and friends, the local & national church, and the world.  If you have specific prayer requests that you would like the prayer group to pray for, please submit them to the church office and they will be passed on to the prayer group.  New members are always welcome.

CPC Women’s Book Group

2nd Monday of Each Month, 10am in the CPC Library

The Book Group reads and discusses a different book each month.  Participants are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the book each month.  This group is open to all women of the congregation. 

 

Additional Small Group Bible Studies may form throughout the fall.
